| What is acceptable output-ready artwork for an embosser or rubber stamp? |
|
• Solid black/white line art only. No greyscale or color. No photos.
Embossers - the black parts of your artwork will be raised in the embossed impression, while the white parts will remain flat.
• High-resolution (300-600 dpi) or vector artwork. No web graphics (these are usually low-resolution - 72 dpi). We recommend creating artwork at 600 dpi for the best result (especially if your artwork has text).
• Text should generally be a minimum of 10 pt. size (depends on the font - some can be smaller and some should be larger).
• Embossers - Straight lines should generally be a minimum of 1.5 pt. size. Lines that are too thin have a greater tendency to cut through lightweight paper.
• Embossers - Solid line borders around your artwork usually cause more crinkling of the paper. To minimize, place a second sheet of paper underneath and emboss both together. Dotted/dashed/ticking borders generally do not crinkle the paper.
• Artwork should be submitted at exact size or larger. Some file types can be enlarged without quality loss, however others can't. It's best if artwork is submitted to us at the size you want.
• Artwork cannot fill the entire plate area. Maximum artwork specs -
2" circular plate - artwork must fit within 1-3/4" circle
1-5/8" circular plate - artwork must fit within 1-3/8" circle
1" x 2" rectangular plate - artwork must fit within 3/4" x 1-3/4"
1" x 2-1/2" self-inking rubber stamp plate - artwork must fit within 3/4" x 2-1/4"
• Web graphics or low-resolution artwork have jagged/rough edges and will create impressions with jagged/rough edges. Do not try to convert a web graphic or low-resolution image into a high-resolution image simply by re-saving it as 300-600 dpi. That will not work. You must find the original artwork file and submit that to us or re-save it in a high-resolution format.
• If you are submitting scanned artwork, be sure that you scan the artwork at a minimum of 300 dpi (we recommend 600+ dpi). Some scanners automatically scan at low-resolution (72 dpi), which is not acceptable.
• If you don't know if your artwork is low-resolution, you can tell once you print it. If the artwork is blurry or jagged, then it's low-resolution. High-resolution artwork will appear crisp and clean.
• Embossers - Very fine details in your artwork may be lost in the resulting embossed image due to the paper not being able to bend in/out of the tiny grooves on the embosser plate.
• We're happy to evaluate your artwork prior to production to advise you of any potential problems.
